Dubai Yacht Charter Guide: Marinas, Prices & Season
Dubai yacht charter guide: marinas, boat types, indicative prices, season, and sights. Everything you need to plan a private charter or day-tour.
Dubai's coastline pulls in two directions: the glittering towers of Dubai Marina on one side, the open Gulf on the other. A yacht charter here is the best way to see both.
This guide covers the marinas, the boats, the costs, and the season. No fluff. Just what you need to know before you book.
Why Charter a Yacht in Dubai?
Dubai was built for the water. The city's skyline—Burj Al Arab, Palm Jumeirah, Atlantis—was designed to be seen from the sea. From a yacht, you get the full picture.
A private charter gives you your own space: no crowds, no queues, just your group and the crew. You can swim off the back, anchor at a beach club, or cruise past Ain Dubai as the sun sets. Captained charters are standard. You sit back and watch the city slide by.
Dubai's Yacht Marinas & Departure Points
Dubai Harbour – The premier hub. Close to Bluewaters, Ain Dubai, JBR, and the Palm. Wide channel, modern facilities, easy parking. Most premium charters depart from here.
Dubai Marina – Marina Walk, Pier 7, DMCC metro. More action, more restaurants, more boats. Good for shorter trips or if you want to stay near the Marina's buzz.
Dubai Creek & Dubai Water Canal – A different vibe. Historic dhows, the old souk, and a cruise through the canal into Business Bay. Ideal for a calm afternoon.
Palm Jumeirah – Hotels and villas with private beach access. Some charters can pick up from the Palm's own marina or the Atlantis jetty.
Festival City Marina – On the Creek side, near Dubai Festival City Mall. Quiet, less crowded.
Business Bay – Canal cruises into the heart of the city. Mostly smaller boats and dinner cruises.
Boat Types & What They Cost
Boats are usually quoted in AED per hour or AED per day. Prices vary by size, age, and season. All figures below are indicative—confirm at enquiry. Add 5% VAT to everything.
Day Boats (31–35 ft)
Small, open, fast. Good for a few hours with up to 8–10 guests. Typically AED 400–700 per hour. No cabin. Just a deck, a sunpad, and a cooler.
Motor Yachts (40–70 ft)
The sweet spot for most groups. Enclosed saloon, multiple decks, enough space for 10–12 guests plus crew. From AED 3,000–5,000 per hour.
Superyachts (100 ft+)
Full crew, multiple cabins, jet skis, tenders. Prices start roughly from USD 3,000 per day plus 5% VAT plus APA (advanced provisioning allowance), typically 30–35% of the charter fee. APA covers fuel, food, drinks, and port fees. Unused APA is refunded.
Catamarans (55 ft+)
Stable, spacious, great for groups. Perfect for sunset cruises or family outings. Similar price bracket to motor yachts of equivalent length.
Sailing Yachts
Fewer in Dubai, but available. Slower pace, less fuel cost. Often cheaper than motor yachts.
What to See on a Dubai Yacht Charter
- Ain Dubai – The world's largest observation wheel, from the water.
- Bluewaters Island – Beach clubs, restaurants, and the Caesars Palace resort.
- JBR (Jumeirah Beach Residence) – The long stretch of beachfront apartments and cafes.
- Palm Jumeirah – The iconic frond-shaped island. Cruise past the villas and the Atlantis.
- Burj Al Arab – The sail-shaped hotel. Best shot from the sea.
- The World Islands – Further out. Some charters stop here for a swim.
Most standard charters stick to the coast between Dubai Harbour and the Palm. Longer charters can head to The World or Jebel Ali.
Best Season for Yacht Charter in Dubai
Peak season: November to April – Air temperatures 24–28°C, sea calm. Sunset slots (around 4:30–5:30 pm) are the most popular and book first. Weekends are busiest.
October & April (shoulder) – Still good, but windier in October. Mornings are the calmest.
Summer (May to September) – Hot. 35–45°C. Charters still run, but you'll want air conditioning and a covered deck. Prices are lower.
Major events that spike demand: UAE National Day (Dec 2), New Year's Eve fireworks, Dubai Boat Show (Feb/Mar), and Abu Dhabi F1 (early Dec). Book months ahead for NYE.
